Every piece carries a message worth wearing.
Ride. Rise. Shine.
Ride
Movement is medicine. Every session is therapy. The pavement doesn't judge — it just catches you when you commit.
Rise
We rise by lifting others. No gatekeeping. No hierarchy. Your first kickflip matters as much as your thousandth.
Shine
Be the light in someone's darkest day. Be the spark that refuses to go out. That's not a slogan — it's a responsibility.
Built from legacy.
Every brand has a story. Ours started with a kid on a skateboard and an uncle who never stopped believing in him.
A Spark Is Born
Austin Hunter Sparks arrives. From the very beginning, this kid was different — full of fire, full of questions, full of light.
The Shadow
At five years old, Austin becomes his uncle Kyle's shadow. Everywhere Kyle went — the skate park, the halfpipe, the parking lot sessions — Austin was right there. Board in hand. Fearless.
The bond beginsEvery. Single. Day.
The skate park wasn't a hobby — it was their life. Building halfpipes in the basement. Skating every day after school. Two generations, one board, no rules. This is where SPARX was really born — they just didn't know it yet.
The Napkin
Austin, now 14, is working at Kyle's Design Skins shop. One night at Mellow Mushroom in Greensboro, Austin grabs a napkin and starts sketching. "Let's start a brand." Originally they talked furniture — but the conversation kept circling back to what they loved most. Skateboards.
Kyle didn't want the spotlight. He wanted to be the silent person in the background — let the kid shine. That night, SPARX was born.
SPARX is bornLiftoff
SPARX launches and the energy is electric. Longboards, skateboards, a brand built on purpose. They get invited to the MTV Movie Awards. For a moment, the whole world could see what Austin and Kyle always knew — this was something real.
MTV Movie AwardsLife Happens
The excitement faded. Life pulled them in different directions. But the connection never broke. Austin ran the Design Skins shop for years, keeping the entrepreneurial spirit alive. Through every season, through every storm — the bond held.
The Hardest Year
Austin passed. The world got quieter. Then one day, Austin's son looked up at Kyle and said, "Take me to the skate park."
That one sentence changed everything. Kyle heard Austin in those words. And he knew what he had to do — bring SPARX back.
The spark reignitesThe Relaunch
December 2022 — SPARX Board Co. reopens as a retail store on Main Street, Danville, VA. Not as a memorial. As a continuation. Hoodies, tees, skateboards, wall art — every piece carrying a message.
After Austin passed, Kyle found his diary. Inside: "One Day or Day One?" and "You Decide." Those words became the heartbeat of the relaunch. Every product quote was chosen asking one question: "What would have helped Austin in his darkest days?"
Main Street opensOnline. Everywhere.
The Main Street shop closes its doors — but the movement doesn't stop. SPARX goes fully online, reaching people far beyond Danville. The mission is bigger than any storefront. The spark doesn't need four walls.

To Write Love
on Her Arms.
SPARX Board Co. proudly partners with To Write Love on Her Arms — a nonprofit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.
Austin's story is too many people's story. Skating was his therapy. For others it's art, music, community, or just knowing someone cares. TWLOHA is there for the people who need to hear "you matter" most.
Be the spark.
"Fire doesn't die. It transfers."
